An example of image manipulation

This is a screen capture towards the end of the editing process of this image. To the right the multiple adjustment layers which have been masked can be seen. This gives some idea of the way that the picture from the camera is transformed.

The next few images show the process at different stages.

This is the image before any colour or tonal adjustment. It is composed from two exposures taken at the same time. One is set for the foreground and the other for the sky.

The added advantage of using two images is that the overall pixel count is higher.

The next image has adjustments made to the foreground (lighter) and the sky (darker)

Further tonal changes are made and the colour balance is shifted.

The colour is adjusted further and areas of brightness are added for focus.

Finally the saturation is adjusted particularly in the sky and the image is sharpened.

Every picture is made individually with a different set of changes or adjustments. The hands on manipulation creates a hybrid of photography and painting.
